Beach and surveillance

In the heart of the tourist district of La Hume, and right next to the marina, this beach is above all family-friendly.

Bordered by tamarisk and pine trees, the beach offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Bay of Arcachon.

With the rhythm of the tides, enjoy a variety of activities: swimming, relaxing on the sand, fishing, walking… Take advantage of the facilities available: play areas, picnic area, beach restaurant in season, paddles for hire…

The beach is supervised from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm in July and August, ensuring safe bathing for young and old alike.

La Hume beach is also a well-known spot for kite surfing. Spectacle guaranteed!

A certified beach

La Hume beach has held the ” Handiplage level 2 ” label since 2008, and offers the following facilities and services for people with reduced mobility:

Reserved parking space
Wheelchair access from the parking lot to the bathing area
Provision of a ” tiralo ” for use on the sand and in the bathing area
Disabled toilet facilities less than 100 meters away
Accessible shower with flexible hose
Handiplagiste assistance for the disabled in July and August.

In summer, the Tourist Office organizes guided tours of the beach at low tide, in partnership with a local association, AROEVEN, which specializes in teaching and raising awareness of sensitive natural environments. On this tour, entitled “Les trésors de l’estran à marée basse” (“The treasures of the foreshore at low tide“), children and parents learn more about the biodiversity of this unusual environment.

La Hume beach in a different way

Sports are not forgotten at La Hume beach.

In spring, try your hand at paddle boarding with Paddle Glisse. From the beach, take to the water, find your balance on this large board, and off you go!

During the summer, sea kayak tours are offered by the Tourist Office. With Dorian, explore the coastline of Gujan or Testin, discovering the typical landscapes of the Bay of Arcachon.

And don’t forget kite surfing! Part of the beach is dedicated to this sensational sport, which is available all year round. If you’d like to be blown into the air by the force of the wind, then this is the activity for you.

For the less adventurous, enjoy a trip out to sea with our boat trips departing from the port of La Hume. Choice, smiles and fun!
