PINASSE RIDE TRADITIONAL BOAT

Treat your association, family or friends to a unique experience aboard a traditional pinasse, a true emblem of the Arcachon Basin. This authentic trip will allow you to discover the splendid landscapes of the Basin as you float along, while immersing yourself in its rich maritime heritage.

A little history ...

Pinasses are traditional boats from the Bay of Arcachon, once used for fishing, oyster farming and transport. Inspired by Basque and Gasconboats, they were originally built from Landes pine and propelled by sail or oar. With their slender, shallow-drafthulls, they were perfectly suited to the shallow waters of the basin.

From the 20th century onwards, engines gradually replaced sails, making pinasses more efficient. Today, although they have lost their utilitarian function, they are still present on the Basin, restored and modernized for tourist trips and events. True symbols of the local maritime heritage, they embody thehistory andidentity of the Bay of Arcachon.
