A little history

Arcachon was once a smallfishing and resin-making village. Its development began in the 19th century, when the Pereire brothers, supported by Napoleon III, created a seaside resort to promote tourism and marine cures.

In 1857, Arcachon became an independent commune and attracted the aristocracy and bourgeoisie, seduced by its mild climate and exceptional natural setting. The Ville d’Hiver, with its elegant villas, was built to welcome wealthy visitors in search of fresh air.

Arcachon then developed around fishing, oyster farming and tourism. Today, the town has become a must-see destination on the Atlantic coast.

Then it is time to escape to one of the most beautifulbeaches on the Bay of Arcachon. Pereire Beach, bordered by a vast promenade and shady gardens, offers a breathtaking view of the Cap Ferret peninsula, with its pine forests plunging into the ocean.

The Winter City

Along the winding, hilly streets, you will discover magnificent villas in a variety of architectural styles: Swiss chalets, Moorish influences, Gothic touches and colonial inspirations. Each home tells a unique story, reflecting the elegance and refinement of the Belle Époque.
