Salt meadows: a fragile and little-known environment

Obione, salicorne, asters, lémicoles, “enragés” crabs, hydrobies… But what are these strange names? As mysterious as they are, they all populate the salt meadows, these fascinating and typical environments  of the Arcachon Bay coastline. These plants and animals have adapted to the special living conditions where salt water meets land.

You will have the chance to observe these amazing species up close, to understand their role in the ecosystem and how they survive in a sometimes hostile environment.

An enriching experience to assess, understand and respect the biodiversity of the Bay of Arcachon.
