The Bassin d’Arcachon lagoon is a natural area formed by tides, wind and currents. It has long been used foroyster farming and fishing. Over the years, villages and seaside resorts have sprung up around the Basin.
Today, the lagoon is a protected area that plays an important role in nature conservation and remains a popular spot for leisure activities andwildlife observation.
